Nick Greaves grew up on the Yorkshire Coast around Scarborough and the North Yorkshire Moors where he developed an interest in wildlife and the environment. After leaving college he left for Southern Africa and after a short spell working in prospecting for Anglo American in South Africa and what was then Rhodesia. He settled in Zimbabwe and worked in the wildlife sector in safari camps and became a Professional Safari Guide and author of successful children’s wildlife story books and a coffee-table book on Hwange National Park.

Nick was lucky enough to live and work in some of the best wildlife areas in Southern and Eastern Africa including, Hwange, Chizarira, Matobos, Zambezi, Mana Pools and Matusadona National Parks in Zimbabwe, Chobe, Moremi, Makgadikgadi Pans and Savuti National Parks in Botswana and Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha, Katavi and Mikumi National Parks in Tanzania. His travels also took him to remote wildlife areas of Gabon, DRC, Rwanda and Uganda

All the while developing his photographic skills he was lucky to win the prestigious AGFA Wildlife and Environment Awards, 1996 Photographer of the Year Award along with several awards for his books. His photography accompanied articles written for numerous regional and international publications.
